You’re a small business owner trying to market your business. You’ve heard all about this Facebook thing and are now convinced you need to get your business on there. A nice social media expert type person, your son, or one of your employees offers to build a page for your company. Great, now the money will come rolling in, right?
Wrong! Just having a page on Facebook isn’t enough; you have to have a strategy and objectives to go along with it.
I have seen so many business owners spend a few hundred bucks to get up on Facebook and then never do anything else. Worse yet, I have seen business owners who spend hundreds of dollars every month for a social media manager who doesn’t really get it. Social media isn’t about how many times a day you post, it is about what you are posting.
You have to know what you want to accomplish with Facebook; just being there isn’t enough. Used correctly, it can be a fantastic voice for your company. Used incorrectly, it can be a huge waste of time and money for your company.
