I found a great time management tool by accident and wanted to take a minute to share it with you. Pictured here is the potty clock we ordered for my son. We had read that this was a great tool that you could set it for 30 minutes and whenever it goes off, he would go try to use the potty. We had heard this was fun for the kids too, that is was almost like a game. Well, long story short, it didn’t really work with our son. It had an opposite effect.
Rather than send it back, I took it. I have had trouble managing my time in certain areas. My big issue with time management is that I get lost in a project and end up spending far too much time on one thing when I have a whole list of things to do. I am particularly bad when it comes to social media. I started setting this clock for myself. I started budgeting my time in advance and using the clock to keep me on schedule. It has a red, yellow, and green light on it, so it gives a nice warning before time is up. It is amazing what I can cram into that last 5 minutes when the warning light comes on.
I think this would be a very helpful tool for most small business owners. You should be scheduling time each week to spend on your marketing. Schedule the time, set the clock, and get going. You could even use a kitchen timer or most cell phones even have a timer feature. You may not get the warning signal, but they would still work.
